The Commissioner met with British politicians and trade union leaders

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with British politician, former Member of the European Parliament Julie Caroline and leaders of British trade unions Christian Kitchen and Mick Whelan.

The Commissioner emphasized that due to the escalation of Russia's armed aggression, the fundamental right of Ukrainian citizens to life is being violated every minute!

Lyudmila Denisova thanked European partners for their consistent support in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity, and called for assistance at all levels in imposing immediate sanctions against the aggressor country.

"I paid special attention to the fate of 314 of our fellow citizens - civilian hostages and prisoners of war who are illegally detained in the torture chambers of ORDLO. According to my relatives, these people can be taken away in an unknown direction, as well as used for sabotage and terrorist acts. Therefore, the admission of representatives of international humanitarian organizations to them should be urgent in order to save their lives, "the Commissioner stressed.

According to her, 125 citizens of Ukraine, including 90 Crimean Tatars, were convicted in fabricated cases for pro-Ukrainian position and resistance to Russian occupation of Crimea. The issue of releasing Ukrainian citizens illegally detained by Russia for political reasons will remain a priority in dialogue with foreign partners.

The Ombudsman thanked the British guests for their cooperation, understanding of Ukraine's European aspirations and its main goal - to live in peace!
