Commissioner: Every day Ukrainian children become victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine

As of 10 a.m. on May 6, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 223 children (+2 per day) have died and 408 children have been injured since the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine.

It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.

Yesterday due to the shelling by the occupiers of the regional landscape park "Feldman Ecopark"  in the forest of Kharkiv district in Kharkiv region a 15-year-old volunteer boy who helped feed and evacuate animals died.

It also became known that an 18-year-old boy from the village of Verkhnotoretske in the Donetsk region took his younger four brothers and sisters into his care.  His mother died in front of him from an artillery shell that exploded nearby.

Due to the shelling of a civilian convoy trying to leave the town of Popasna in Luhansk region, a young 15-year-old girl had to drive more than 30 km with injured legs.  Adults in the car were seriously injured and were unable to drive.

A 17-year-old boy died as a result of the bombing of the village of Novoselivka, Pokrovsky District, Donetsk Region.

The actions of the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of Ukraine's children's right to life and security, guaranteed by the Hague and Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of Russia's violations of children's rights in Ukraine.

I call on international partners to provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
