Commissioner: Russian troops continue to violate children's rights to life and health

As of 10 a.m. on May 21, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 232 children have died and 430 children have been injured (+3 per day) since the russian federation invaded Ukraine.

It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.

As a result of a rocket attack by russian troops on the city palace of culture in the town of Lozova, Kharkiv region, seven civilians were injured, including an 11-year-old girl.

A 13-year-old girl was injured in the shelling of the village of Velyki Khutory, Kupyansk district, Kharkiv region.

It became known that the occupiers fired at a car of volunteers in the city of Severodonetsk.  A 17-year-old boy was injured.

In addition, 416 Mariupol residents, including 46 children, were taken to the "filtration" camp in the village of Bezymenne, Donetsk region.

Such actions by the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of the Hague and Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of russia's violations of children's rights in Ukraine.

I call on international partners to provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of russia!
