As of 10 a.m. on April 13, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations and other sources that need confirmation, 191 (+5 per day) children have died and 349 children (+5 per day) have been injured since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.
As a result of a long stay in the bomb shelter (32 days) without the sun, complete nutrition, the one-year-old child from Kharkiv stopped walking. Currently, medical professionals are providing appropriate care to the child.
On the territory of the settlements of Borodyanka and the village of Korolivka in Kyiv region, burnt bodies of a 16-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were found.
A one-and-a-half-month-old child and a 12-year-old boy died as a result of the shelling of the civilian infrastructure of Kharkiv by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Four other children aged 1, 4, 5 and 9 years were injured.
It also became known that a 15-year-old girl was seriously injured when a shell hit a residential building.
To date, daily bombings and shelling have damaged 957 educational institutions, 88 of which have been completely destroyed.
Such actions by the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of the Hague and Geneva Conventions. The aggressor continues to defiantly violate the fundamental rights of children - the right to life and health, guaranteed to every child in the world by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States under the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these violations of Russia's rights to children in Ukraine.
I call on international partners to close the skies over Ukraine and provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
