As a result of the actions of the russian occupiers, residents of dozens of Ukrainian cities partially or completely do not have access to drinking water

As a result of active hostilities in settlements in eastern Ukraine, there was a threat of destruction of the water supply system.

Today, almost 1.5 million people in Ukraine are left without access to tap water and more than 4.5 million are at risk of losing their water supply due to damage to water and electricity networks.

Power outages have stopped water pumps, and damaged pipelines have disrupted water supply.

People are forced to use water from dirty sources - rivers, lakes, even puddles, which leads to dangerous infectious diseases.

Large cities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are cut off from water supply.  340,000 people could be left without water if the reservoir in Horlivka in the Donetsk region dries up.

Russia's actions violate the Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949 (Fourth Geneva Convention).  According to it, the occupying state is obliged to use all available means to provide the civilian population with all necessary resources, including water.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of Russia's human rights violations in Ukraine.
