A working meeting was held in Ivano-Frankivsk with the management of the Regional Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid

A working meeting of the staff of the regional office of the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights in Ivano-Frankivsk with the leadership of the Regional Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid in Ivano-Frankivsk was held in Ivano-Frankivsk to discuss cooperation in 2022.

During the meeting, the Regional Representative of the Commissioner in Ivano-Frankivsk region Lyudmila Nepiyvoda drew attention to the strategic activities of the Commissioner in 2022 and areas of cooperation provided by the Memorandum concluded in 2018 between the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights and the Coordination Center for Legal Aid.

Svitlana Demyanchuk, the Regional Coordinator for Public Relations of the Commissioner for Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, spoke about the results of monitoring visits within the national preventive mechanism, focusing on the problematic issues of providing legal assistance to persons in detention.

For his part, the head of the Regional Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid Mykhailo Yevchuk presented posters developed by the Coordination Center for Free Legal Aid with information on the right to free legal aid, the BPD system and how to get a lawyer or lawyer for people who are in places of detention of various spheres and types. It was also stressed the need for consultations in penitentiary institutions and the problems faced by BPD specialists in conducting them.

As a result of the meeting, the partners exchanged information materials and worked out joint measures to ensure the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and the Coordination Center for Legal Aid at the regional level.
