Since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine, 20 journalists have been killed, including representatives of foreign media

On April 8, it became known about the death of journalist and writer Yevhen Bal, and on April 12 - about the shooting of an employee of the popular Chernihiv TV channel "Dytynets", video engineer Roman Nezhyborets.

Journalists are the main target for the russian occupiers, as they tell the world about the war crimes of the aggressor country.

The killings and shelling of journalists are a gross violation of the Hague Convention and Declaration, the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Victims of War and its Additional Protocols, and the Convention on the Laws and Customs of Land Warfare, which provide security guarantees for journalists.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States under the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these human rights violations in Ukraine.
