I welcome the approval by the UN General Assembly of the resolution on the withdrawal of troops from the territory of Ukraine by the aggressor state of the Russian Federation.
The resolution was adopted with an unprecedented number of votes - 141. Only 5 countries voted against, including the Russian Federation.
The General Assembly called on the intervener:
immediately stop violations and oppression of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law in Ukraine.
to the rapid and verifiable withdrawal of troops and armed groups of the Russian Federation from the entire internationally recognized territory of Ukraine, including its territorial waters, in order to prevent further violations and oppression of human rights in the country;
immediately provide safe and unhindered humanitarian access, including through lines of confrontation, and ensure that humanitarian assistance is provided to all those in need.
The resolution emphasizes the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities against Ukraine.
In an international act, member states have documented violations of many human rights, including the right to life and health, caused by Russian shelling and bombing of civilian areas.
An independent international commission will be established as a matter of urgency to investigate all human rights violations and oppressions and violations of international humanitarian law in Crimea and some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts starting in 2014 and in other districts of Ukraine starting February 22, 2022.
