Commissioner: Russia's military aggression daily violates the child's right to life and health

As of April 16, according to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, 341 children were treated in health care facilities due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.  Of these, 174 are continuing treatment, 150 have been discharged, and 5 children have died.

93% of hospitalized children received explosive or gunshot wounds.

Children between the ages of 7 and 14 are the most vulnerable group.  179 children of this age category were injured.

In 3% of children (12 people) who underwent treatment, the result is amputation of limbs.

The number of casualties is far from exhaustive, and complete objective statistics are not possible due to the fighting.

Russia's military aggression daily violates the child's right to life and health, as guaranteed by Article 6 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these violations of children rights in Ukraine by Russia.

I call on international partners to close the skies over Ukraine and provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
