The interventionist razed to the ground the regional youth center-theater (former Shchors cinema) in Chernihiv, the local history museum in the village of Ivankov, Kyiv region, which housed more than two dozen paintings by Ukrainian artist Maria Pryimachenko, Vyshgorod State Historical and Architectural Reserve and dozens others in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolayiv regions.
The destruction and damage to Ukraine’s tangible cultural heritage is a gross violation by Russia, as a member of UNESCO, of the protocols to the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property during Military Conflict.
We urge UNESCO member states to take all possible sanctions against the Russian Federation and approve a decision on a no-fly zone over our land.
