Commissioner: The war continues to take the lives of Ukrainian children

As of 10 a.m. on March 28, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 143 children (+4 per day) have died and 216 children (+9 per day) have been injured since the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.

Two children were injured in the shelling in Zaporizhia.  A boy and a girl born in 2009 were taken to the regional children's hospital.  Both are residents of Huliaipil city.

They were affected by the blast during a shelling and explosion at a nearby apartment building.  The boy received a facial injury and the girl received a gunshot wound to the chest.

On the highway between the village Shevelivka and the village Husarivka, Izium district, Kharkiv region a car shot by racists was found.  Rescuers found a dead family in the car: a woman, a man and a 3-year-old child.

Russian militants fired artillery at the village Oskil, Izium district, Kharkiv region.  As a result, the house was damaged, 4 people died, including a 7-year-old boy.  In addition, a 4-year-old child was injured.  Also in other parts of the village, 3 more people were killed during the shelling, including a 16-year-old boy.  Four people were injured.

Yesterday in the Sumy region, a military vehicle of the Russian Federation hit a family traveling on the road, as a result of which a 15-year-old teenager was injured and his father died in hospital.

During the past 24 hours, the occupying forces carried out 28 artillery and air strikes on the cities of Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Popasna, Kreminna and Novotoshkivske Lughansk region. As a result of the destruction of one of the houses in Rubizhne, local residents, including a child, were trapped.  In Borivskyi, one person died and two were injured, including one child.

On March 27, russian troops shelled the Fastiv district of Kyiv region, as a result of which 11 adults and one child sought medical help.  The enemy used heavy artillery on residential buildings.

A 15-year-old boy died in hospital in the Kherson region from injuries he received as a result of artillery shelling.

The bombing and shelling damaged 733 educational institutions.  74 of them were completely destroyed.

The actions of the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of the Hague and Geneva Conventions.

I appeal to the international community and international human rights organizations to help end the military attack on the Russian Federation by increasing sanctions and isolating the aggressor.

I insist, NATO countries - close the sky !!
