Commissioner: The war in eastern Ukraine continues to take the lives of Ukrainian soldiers

The war in eastern Ukraine continues to take the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

As a result of shelling of the territories controlled by the Government of Ukraine by the armed formations of the Russian Federation of the settlement of Novotroitsky of Donetsk region one Ukrainian military was lost, six are wounded. There are also victims among the civilian population: a 50-year-old resident of Maryinka, Donetsk region, received a shrapnel wound to the shoulder and hand of his left hand. The man was hospitalized. This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova.

The Commissioner expresses his sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased soldier, and wishes the wounded a speedy recovery.

Over the past day in the zone of armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, the armed forces of the Russian Federation have violated the regime of silence almost a hundred times, most of them with the use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

The use of heavy artillery by the armed forces of the Russian Federation is indisputable proof of the illegal activities of the occupation administration.

The Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights calls on the international community to use all available levers of influence to force the aggressor state to adhere to a full and comprehensive ceasefire on the demarcation line and international humanitarian law.
