A public activist was illegally detained in the temporarily occupied Crimea

Persecution of activists and civic journalists is intensifying on the peninsula.  Today it became known that on April 29, 2022, civil journalist and activist Iryna Danilovych was detained.

It is currently known that her apartment was searched, equipment and documents were seized.  Iryna Danilovich herself was not present during the search.

The occupier's police detained her at her workplace and, according to her relatives, she has now been sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest.

Detention of Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied Crimea is a direct violation of Article 5 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which guarantees everyone the right to privacy, and Article 8 of the Convention - the right to respect for family life.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the Russian Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of human rights violations in Ukraine.
