The day before, the Southern District Military Court adjourned the hearing due to the ill health of political prisoners Servet Gaziev and Dzhemil Gafarov.
An ambulance was called to the men, but no medical assistance was provided, nor was it concluded that the defendants could continue to participate in the trial.
Servet Gaziev has severe pain in the liver, his diagnosis is still unknown. The man has a disability of the second group. He suffered a microstroke in the pre-trial detention center, as a result of which he paralyzed the right side of his face.
Cemil Gafarov, 59, looked pale in the courtroom and could not focus. The man has a disability of the third group, chronic renal failure of the fourth degree and concomitant heart disease.
For a long time, political prisoners have not been provided with medical care and their pre-trial detention has not been changed.
Detention of Ukrainian citizens in pre-trial detention is a threat to their lives. Servet Gaziev and Cemil Gafarov need urgent professional medical examination and treatment.
In addition, in accordance with the provisions of Article 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and the Federal Law of the Russian Federation of 21.11.2011 № 323-FZ "On Fundamentals of Public Health in the Russian Federation", Dzhemil Gafarov and Servet Gaziev - require immediate change of pre-trial detention and release from custody.
The actions of the Russian Federation are a violation of Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and another example of torture against Ukrainian citizens in places of detention of the aggressor.
I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States in accordance with the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these facts of Russian violations of Ukraine's citizens' rights.
