Commissioner: The number of child victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine is growing every day

As of 10 a.m. on April 15, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 198 (+1 per day) children have died and 355 children (+4 per day) have been injured since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.

On April 14, russian troops fired helicopters at a number of villages in the Kharkiv region.

Two russian helicopters flew into the village of Oleksandrivka and began shelling residential buildings.  Two children aged 9 and 11, were injured.

During the recording of criminal offenses committed in the city of Trostyanets, Sumy region, it was established that a 14-year-old boy died as a result of shelling by the russian military on March 21.

Due to the daily fire of the racist army on peaceful settlements of Ukraine, 1,018 educational institutions were damaged, 95 of them were completely destroyed.

The actions of the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of Ukraine's children's right to life and security, guaranteed by the Hague and Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these violations of children rights in Ukraine by Russia.

I call on international partners to close the skies over Ukraine and provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
