As of the morning of May 18, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 229 children have died and 424 (+1 per day) children have died since the russian federation invaded Ukraine.
It is not possible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.
The most affected children were: Donetsk region - 141 children, Kyiv - 116 children, Kharkiv - 100 children, Chernihiv - 68 children, Kherson - 48 children, Mykolaiv - 44 children, Luhansk - 47 children, Zaporizhia - 28 children, Sumy - 17 children , Kyiv - 16 children, Zhytomyr - 15 children.
On the eve of a rocket attack on the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, the structures of a residential building from the fifth to the first floor were destroyed. As a result, a 9-year-old child was seriously injured.
At the same time, it became known that one of the shells exploded near the apartment where a three-year-old child was at the time. Fortunately, the child was not injured.
A girl who was injured during a missile strike at a recreation center in the Odesa region was operated on. The child is in extremely serious condition in one of the medical institutions of Odesa region.
As a result of targeted shelling by enemy forces of the russian federation, the destruction and destruction of educational institutions continues. Tonight, the russian army completely destroyed another educational institution - Avdiivka School G1 in Donetsk region. The facility was shelled with banned phosphorus munitions.
In total, 1,772 educational institutions were damaged by bombing and shelling by Ukrainian forces in Ukrainian cities and villages. At the same time, 161 of them were completely destroyed.
Such actions by the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of the Hague and Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of Russia's violations of children's rights in Ukraine.
I call on international partners to provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
