Lyudmila Denisova on the Parliament's failure to support the decision to establish the TSC to verify possible violations of the oath by the Commissioner

The decision to establish a temporary special parliamentary commission to investigate possible violations of the oath by the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights was not supported by the People's Deputies of Ukraine.

The basis for such an inspection was a letter from one of the 67,000 citizens who applied to the Commissioner last year. Compared to 2020, their number has increased by 20,000 and this is evidence that people trust the Commissioner as an institution that can protect their rights.

"Everyone's right to appeal must be respected, and I pay attention to every letter. But there are applicants who abuse this and send mass inquiries of the same type to the Commissioner and the authorities, the purpose of which is not to restore the right, but to encourage business interests. I am ready for a constructive dialogue with the People's Deputies of Ukraine, who were critical of our work, to improve the parliamentary control of the Commissioner to ensure respect for human and civil rights and freedoms, "said Lyudmila Denisova.

The Commissioner stated that she would continue to work with a team of like-minded people and human rights organizations to ensure that everyone's rights were protected.
