Our partners expressed solidarity with Ukraine's heroic struggle against the aggressor state.
They discussed the tragic consequences of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, numerous violations of the rights of our citizens by the aggressor's troops and the state of affairs with the movement of Ukrainian refugees on the country's western borders.
ENNHRI colleagues, who have just returned from visiting our checkpoints in the three western oblasts, said that Ukraine will need humanitarian and other assistance for a long time to come, which European countries are ready to provide.
I asked ENNHRI Chair Carolyn Fennel to contact the ombudsmen and national human rights institutions - members of ENNHRI to provide up-to-date information on large-scale violations of human rights and international humanitarian law by the aggressor state in Ukraine to maximize sanctions pressure on the interventionist.
She took the initiative to inform ENNHRI as an authoritative international organization of the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation T. Moskalkov about the real picture of the devastating consequences of the invasion of Ukraine. The Ombudsman of the Russian Federation must appeal to the leadership of his country to stop violations of fundamental human rights - the right to life of civilians, children, servicemen in Ukraine, including the Russian military.
She informed her colleagues that she had invited the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović to visit Ukraine, in particular the regions in the west of the country, to get acquainted with the situation with Ukrainian refugees. She invited ENNHRI representatives to address a similar initiative to the Commissioner and invite the Ombudsmen of Poland, Moldova, Hungary, the Slovak National Center for Human Rights and the Romanian Human Rights Institute to join.
I will continue to inform my colleagues about the developments in Ukraine in connection with the military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.
