The Commissioner discussed overcoming the humanitarian crisis with the Head of the United Nations World Food Program Office in Ukraine

Held an online meeting with Samir Wanmali, Head of the United Nations World Food Program Office in Ukraine.  The UN WFP office has been operating in Ukraine since March this year in Lviv.

Mr. Wanmali spoke about the directions and mechanisms of the WFP and the prospects of the organization in Ukraine in the next three months.  WFP provides support to the population, including the most vulnerable groups, in the form of cash money for the most necessary groups of goods and food aid.

Informed the Head of the WFP in Ukraine about the critical humanitarian situation in Mariupol, Kherson, Chernihiv and other settlements that are exposed to daily enemy fire and about humanitarian problems in the regions of Ukraine, where the largest number of IDPs arrived. Now it’s 6,5 million people.

As a result of the meeting, we agreed with Mr. Wanmali to intensify our cooperation to provide targeted humanitarian assistance to our citizens in settlements where this assistance can be safely delivered and ensure constant exchange of information to form lists of people in need in some cities and regions.

I am grateful to the Head of the WFP Office in Ukraine for his willingness to help the people of Ukraine during the war and to support in the joint overcoming of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

We work together for Victory!
