Commissioner: In the last 24 hours alone, 5 Ukrainian children have been injured due to Russian aggression

As of 10 a.m. on April 19, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources that need confirmation, 205 children have died and 367 children have been injured (+5 per day) since the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine.

It is impossible to establish the actual number of dead and wounded children due to the fact that the occupying forces are actively fighting in Ukrainian cities.

As a result of artillery shelling by the occupiers of the village Shandrygolove in the Donetsk region a 16-year-old girl was injured.

It became known that a civilian car exploded on an unidentified explosive device near the village of Zakharivka in Kyiv region, where the family was trying to evacuate to a safe place.  An 8-year-old child was injured and her mother died.

On April 18, a rocket attack was launched on the territory of the city of Lviv, as a result of which a 3-year-old child was injured.

A 14-year-old girl was wounded in the shelling of settlements in Zaporizhia region  by racist militants.

During the russian invasion, 1,141 educational institutions were damaged by bombing and shelling, of which 99 were completely destroyed.

The actions of the russian occupation forces are a direct violation of Ukraine's children's right to life and security, guaranteed by the Hague and Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these violations of children rights in Ukraine by Russia.

I call on international partners to close the skies over Ukraine and provide weapons to fight the aggressor country of Russia!
