As a result of the shelling of the city of Okhtyrka in the Sumy region by the military forces of the Russian Federation, the main gas pipelines of Ukraine were threatened.
Damage to which threatens critical civilian infrastructure throughout the country.
I emphasize that, in accordance with Article 48 of the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I), of 8 June 1977, the parties to the conflict must always distinguish between civilian and military facilities and accordingly direct their actions only against military facilities.
A Party to the conflict which violates the provisions of this Convention or the present Protocol shall be responsible for all acts committed by members of its armed forces ”(Article 91).
I once again call on Ukraine's international partners to put as much pressure as possible on Russia to end its military aggression against our state, against international law, and against our people.
