Commissioner: the aggressor continues the policy of forced "Russification" of the population of Ukraine

The rashists will force children kidnapped from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions to study in russian according to russian programs.

The aggressor plans to hold propaganda lessons and issue russian educational documents in the educational institutions of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Children will have to take "courses" in learning the russian language, and teachers will be developed "programs" for the transition to the so-called russian standards of education.

By continuing the policy of forcible "russification" of Ukraine's population, the aggressor violates children's right to cultural and national identity, guaranteed by Article 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the right to education under Articles 24 and 94 of the 1949 Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these violations of children rights in Ukraine by Russia.
