62 years of imprisonment for five: Russia continues to unjustifiably convict Ukrainian citizens for fabricated cases

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced members of the "second Simferopol group" from 12 to 14 years in prison under Article 205.5 (organization and participation in a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Russia in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir case".

Tofika Abdulgazieva, Vladlena Abdulkadyrova, Izzeta Abdullayeva, and Medzhita Abdurakhmanov were sentenced to 12 years in a maximum security penal colony in a fabricated case, the first five of which they will serve in prison.  After serving their sentences, they will be restricted in their freedom of movement for one year.

Bilyala Adilova was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security prison, of which he will spend the first 5 years in prison, and after serving his sentence will be limited to one and a half years in freedom of movement.

Prior to his arrest in March 2019, Crimean Tatars took an active part in the public life of the people, organized holidays, visited courts, and helped the families of political prisoners.  All five are members of the Crimean Solidarity human rights association.

14 minor children of Crimean Tatars will be left without breadwinners.

By prosecuting Crimean Tatars and other illegally detained Ukrainians, the occupying country violates international law, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I appeal to the UN Commission for Investigation Human Rights Violations during the Russian Military Invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of violations of the rights of Russian citizens to Ukraine.
