Today is the International Day against Lesbophobia, Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

On May 17, 1990, homosexuality was excluded from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD).

This has led to a change in worldview and the gradual perception of homosexuality as a common orientation in many European countries and the United States.  However, voluntary relations between persons of the same sex are still criminalized in 70 countries, and some of them provide for the death penalty as a punishment for homosexuality.

In Ukraine, only in April last year, on my recommendations and insistence, the Ministry of Health lifted the ban on the LGBT community to donate blood.  Prior to that, homosexual relationships were considered a "form of risky behavior."

For me personally, this day is an occasion to remind that all people are equal in their dignity and rights.

We remember that the Constitution of Ukraine guaranteed each of us free development and the right to be ourselves!
