The representative of the Commissioner for the Observance of the Rights of the Residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol took part in the opening of the exhibition of the Museum of Military Childhood in Kherson

Iryna Verigina, a representative of the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Respect for the Rights of Residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, took part in the opening of the exhibition of the Museum of Military Childhood in Kherson.

The exposition documents the testimonies of people whose childhood was affected by the war in Donbass, the temporary occupation of Crimea and forced internal resettlement. Kherson, which borders the temporarily occupied peninsula, became the first regional center to present the Museum's collection.

The Museum's representative office in Ukraine opened in 2020, and in June 2021 the first exhibition was held in Kyiv. The museum organizes exhibitions of personal belongings and related stories about the lives of children in wartime, an international platform that helps to better understand the needs of people affected by armed conflict, the temporary occupation.

"The Russian Federation has been occupying Crimea and parts of Donbass for more than a year. Unfortunately, our Ukrainian children have learned what war is. They hid from the occupier's shelling in the Donbas, and in front of their eyes they searched homes and arrested their parents in their native Crimea. And that is why it is important that people who have not faced the war could better understand those who have experience of military childhood, "Iryna Verhina said in her speech.

The exhibition of the Museum of Military Childhood will last for two weeks. Then it will be presented in Odessa, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Lviv and other cities of Ukraine.
