Latvia and Estonia were the first in the world to officially recognize Russia's war crimes in Ukraine as genocide

A statement from the Estonian Parliament said that Russia had committed acts of genocide, including mass atrocities against civilians in the temporarily occupied territories, including Bucha, Borodyanka, Gostomel, Irpen and Mariupol.

In its statement, the Latvian Seimas pointed to significant evidence of mass atrocities committed by the Russian army, including murder, torture, and sexual violence against Ukrainian citizens, including women and children.

Condemning crimes against humanity and genocide, the Seimas emphasized its duty to recognize them and ensure that they do not happen again.

I am confident that the genocide of the Ukrainian people in 2022 will be recognized by the entire civilized world, and the enemy horde of Russia will be stopped - and this is the task not only of Ukraine but of all states professing democracy and the rule of Human Rights.

The russian leadership and the military guilty of the genocide of Ukrainians must be brought to justice!

I thank the countries for strongly condemning Russia's aggression and call on the whole world to join in recognizing the genocide in Ukraine!
