On the eve of the Day of Unity of Ukraine, a representative of the Commissioner for the Rights of Residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol took part in the ceremony of raising the state flag of Ukraine

On the eve of the Day of Unity of Ukraine, the representative of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Respect of the Rights of Residents of Crimea and Sevastopol Irina Verigina, employees of the Sector of Regional Representation in Crimea and Sevastopol and the President's Representative in Crimea and Sevastopol Anton Korin the state flag of Ukraine on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea in the service zone of KPVV "Kalanchak". The event was attended by representatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and public figures from the temporarily occupied peninsula.

On January 22, 1919, the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic was proclaimed, and according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine №49 / 99 of January 21, 1999, the Day of Unity of Ukraine officially became a national holiday. It symbolizes the unity of the Ukrainian people in the pursuit of a single state.

"This holiday is important for every Ukrainian. It is symbolic that the state flag of Ukraine was raised on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea. Thus, we testify to the unity with the Ukrainians who found themselves in the occupation. We reiterate that Crimea is Ukraine and we believe that we will liberate our land from the occupier, and the state flag will fly in every settlement of the Ukrainian Crimea, "Iryna Verhina stressed.
